Sissel and Espen Sing Together

By STEIN ØSTBØ translated from Norwegian by Robert A Jones

It must be the most important duet in Norwegian pop history: Sissel Kyrkjebø and Espen Lind.

Late Wednesday evening, two of Norwegian pop's absolute biggest stars finished the duet, which will appear on Sissel's new album, "All Good Things," on 20. November. The place was Lydlab recording studio in Oslo and the song, "Where The Lost Ones Go," was only an outline of a song Espen Lind had lying around a while, and which he finished barely hours before they went in the studio to record it.

"They have great respect for each other, and the chemistry was definitely there," said Jan Fredrik Karlsen of Sissel's management, Stageway.

Hectic
There has long been speculation about whether Espen Lind was a contributor to the new Sissel album.

As such, he became a songwriter colleague of, among others, Lene Marlin, Jørn Dahl and the Star-Gate team in Trondheim.

In the meantime, Espen Lind has had enough to do to finish his own album, "This is Pop Music," in the past six months, although he's always wanted to write a song for Sissel. Now finally something has come of it.

Enjoyed Working Together
Sissel herself is a great admirer of Espen Lind, as he is of her. When she heard Lind's "Life Is Good" from his new album, she reportedly said, "We must do a duet."

When this finally became a reality this week - with Espen himself and his long-time musical accompanists, Bluefish, as producers, it was actually the first time Sissel and Espen had met each other. The results can be heard in just a little more than two weeks. Espen Lind's new album went to third place on the VG list this week.
