Previously, Jørn Dahl, the producer of Lene Marlin's succesful debut album--Playing My Game, together with the StarGate-team in Trondheim and Morten Abel contributed songs to Sissel's new album. And now there is yet more news on the songwriter front:
"Sissel has herself been involved in writing several of the songs together with Jørn Dahl and StarGate," confirmed Jan Fredrik Karlsen of Stageway, Sissel's management. Therefore, it's all in the family. Stageway is namely not only Sissel's management, but also Lene Marlin and Morten Abel have laid the steering of their career's in the hands of Karlsen and his boss, Sissel's manager of many years, Arne Svare.
Lene Marlin has, according to what VG has learned, been writing songs for Sissel for a while, paralleled with writing new material for her own followup to her debut album, which will come out next summer at the earliest.
Sensational
The new Sissel album has been described as "sensational" by the people who are near her and is a pure pop album with an expression more suited to the Norwegian and European markets than that carved out for Sissel by the American producer Rick Chertoff. So, Sissel and Arne Svare decided to trash the entire collaboration with Chertoff after having used several million Norwegian crowns and several years on Sissel's much anticipated international breakthrough.
Neither the Sissel album (scheduled for release 20. November) nor her first upcoming single from the album (being sent out to radio 23. October), have been named, yet. Sissel herself will be performing at the concluding ceremony of the European Cultural Capital 2000 in her hometown Bergen and will also sing at the Nobel Gala on 11. December in Oslo, Norway. These will be her only major concerts before Christmas this year, besides any eventual Norwegian TV appearances.
