Sissel USA Tour: Kansas City
by Ashley (the hugest Sissel fan in the world)
KANSAS CITY, MO: Last night I went to see Sissel live in Concert!
She was amazing! More than amazing! There are no words to describe how great it was!
It was in a smaller venue so even though we were towards the back we still had good seats.
She came out in a stunning light blue dress with her hair dyed a little more blonde than before. She looked gorgeous!
She started with a Norwegian song I had never heard before. Then she sang other songs like: Lascia Ch'io Pianga, Sarah's Song,
O Mio Babbino Caro, Wait a While, Ava Maria, Shenandoah, and All Good Things.
She sang many other songs that I don't know.
Sissel was really funny! She would just say different things that were hilarious!
She sang a song and before she sang it she said, "This is the Wedding March." People were kind of like, "Huh?" And she said, "Yes, the Wedding March.
But we have arranged it differently. We have done it in three parts:
First, the wedding.
Second, the party afterwards.
And third, the hangover."
Everybody laughed. And she started off humming sweet and nice. Then a little faster and she danced a little bit, got her hips goin'.
Then she sang rally slow and started rubbing her head and purposely messing up a little. It was so funny!
Then she said, "In the past year, I have recorded three Ave Marias: One with Placido Domingo, one with Bryn Terfel,
and one by myself for a Japanese car commercial," and she laughed and so did everyone else.
Then she said, "Tonight you are going to hear the car version."
Right after the last song, I ran up the aisle and stood right by the stage, so I was like 15 feet away from her!
I was screaming and hollering and at one point she looked right at me and smiled. That was cool. Then she walked off stage.
But people kept standing and cheering so she came back for an encore. She sang Lær meg å kjenne and You Raise Me Up.
And I stayed by the stage! Then when she was really done everyone stood up again.
Then a PBS guy came out and gave her flowers and then he began talking and invited her back next year.
And when it was quiet, at the top of my lungs, I screamed, "WE LOVE YOU SISSEL!!!!" She looked right at me and smiled and laughed.
Then afterwards my friend and I were going to go out a side door and we knew how to get out but we wanted to get backstage.
A guy came up to us and asked if we were looking for a way to get out and we said, "Yes," even though we were not.
Then he walked through these double doors and we asked if that was the way out and he said, "No, this just goes backstage."
So we followed him and went backstage!
No doors were locked and there wasn't any security around so we walked on.
Then we went down this hallway and there were three doors the first one said production then the next one said something else
then the third one said, "SISSEL"!
We were excited. we were like maybe she is in there!
So we put our ear up against the door and we couldn't hear anyone. So my friend started to open the door but a lady on
the other side opened it. And I looked in and who did I see? The one, the only Sissel!
I had my CD and marker ready I said, "Sissel?!" and she said, "Yes?"
I said shaking, "Can I have an autograph?!" to which she replied, "Sure."
So she asked me my name and how to spell it.
We were saying, "Oh my God you are amazing!" and we were saying things like we want to go to
Norway. She said, "Oh yeah, it is beautiful." We asked if it was really that cold and she said "No, it's not that bad."
We asked when was the best time to go and she said, "Probably August."
I was telling her that it was so great to meet her
and we kind of hugged. She asked us where we were from and stuff. She had changed and was getting ready to go to her
"Meet and Greet" for people that payed $500 dollars to meet her. So people were rushing her to go to that but if she didn't
have to go we could tell that she totally would have talked to us a lot longer.
She was so sweet and kind and seemed to be a very humble person and very "down to earth."
She easily could have been like, "No, you are not allowed back here. You didn't pay," and not signed the CD, but she was so nice.
I would give anything to just spend the day with her and hang out. She seems really cool.
After I met Sissel I was shaking and was so excited! I couldn't beleive that I had just met Sissel!!!
If she does come back I will definitely go again. From the CD covers and pictures you can tell she is pretty
but nothing compares to seeing her a foot away from you! She is gorgeous! Beyond gorgeous!!
She could very well possibly be the most beautiful woman on the face of the planet!!
If anyone ever has the chance to go to a Sissel concert then go! No matter what the price is, GO!!
It was the most amazing time in my life and I don't think anything could top it!
