Ready for Europe in 2001
"Right now the Norwegian launch of Sissel's new album has the first priority. But it is likely that we launch the album in Europe in 2001, territory for territory," said Sissel's manager, Arne Svare to BA. An eventual release in the USA will be evaluated later.

"Sissel also has Denmark as a 'home arena,' but we have decided to hold back the album there also. It's sufficient to concentrate on Norway before Christmas," said Arne Svare.

The single "One Day," which is already out, has only been sent to radio stations and won't be available in record stores. The complete CD is still not finished being mixed, but Svare is nevertheless convinced it will be in record stores on 20. November.

SCANDINAVIA
"It's entirely certain the CD will be released in Sweden, Denmark and Japan in the new year. The rest of the release plan is difficult to comment on before record label Universal's European office has heard the material from the album. Germany and England are certainly countries where we know there is a fan base. Sissel managed to sell 20,000 copies of "Innerst i sjelen" in England, despite the songs being in Norwegian (and several other Scandinavian languages), pointed out her manager.

Arne Svare wants to have at least four songs to present to Universal's European office before he makes any push.

"We can definitely have the material finished in November, but we will wait until 2001, anyway, so Universal is done with all the Christmas rush and we are finished with the Norwegian launch.

The strategy is to conquer Europe territory by territory.

LIVE ARTIST
Sissel is a typical live artist and therefore it is important she appear on TV in those countries where she is launched. We will, of course, create music videos, but for an artist such as Sissel, an appearance in the countries where she is released is most important," said Svare, who has ensured Sissel has set aside time for an extensive European launch next year.

It hasn't been decided if the single "One Day," which is a typical ballad, will be the first single internationally as well. Svare promises there will be surprises in wait when the CD is complete.

"It will be a typical pop album, but there is much more than ballads on the album, too. We will have some surprises when the album is finished," said Svare.

In BA's review of the single "One Day," it was said the song production sounded ordinary, as Celine Dion songs have already done for years. Arne Svare naturally enough disagrees.

"I feel one hasn't listened carefully enough if one comes to such a conclusion. This production is quite different than the average Celine Dion song," said Sissel's manager, who admits the song can remind one a bit of "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic.

"It can't hurt Sissel's launch that Celine Dion has taken a break for the time being?"

"It's not a disadvantage, but I don't know that it matters much, either. We will see," concluded Svare mysteriously.

What other cards he and Sissel have up their sleeves remain to be seen when the album is released on 20. November.
