Om kvelden når det mørkner og alle går til ro |
In the evening as it darkens and everyone goes to rest then I close the stable and the barn. And the sparrows go to sleep in each their little home then you go also to your bed But since I don't know to have time to go for in the long nights I yearn so I don't have the mind to sleep. It darkens along the way and the Fall approaches, and the mist tightens over the field. On the forest paths many have become lost oh the stars rise so austerely. But can't you come this evening, little friend So send me word and tell me when you come again. I haven't seen you for so long. Now you stand before the mirror and comb your hair, so dark and serious are your eyes. Then beats so your heart, but why it does you don't quite know, for so far no one has come near to you. But over the chair hangs your poor clothes, your shirt and your socks and your jacket. |
