Sissel With Her Daughter Sara
Sissel Kyrkjebø (31) debuted as a 13-year-old on the TV program "Halvsju" (6:30). When it comes to album debut, she is actually beat by her own daughter Sara.

A recording with an 8-month-old Sara leads namely into "Sara's Song" on Sissel's new album "All Good Things." Daughter Sara's laughter is the very inspiration behind "Sara's Song."

"We had actually laid that song with the recording of 8-month-old Sara (who is now 15 months old) aside. But the lyricist, David Foreman, was so inspired by Sara's spontaneous child laughter that "Sara's Song" became one of the finest lyrics. It's also one of the songs I'm most pleased with on the album," said Sissel to BA.

The new album will be released Monday and is called "All Good Things." This time Sissel is gambling on a pure pop album with English lyrics.

LIGHTS UP
And how does Sara like to hear herself on the album?

"She lights up and becomes very enthusiastic and active immediately. It's obvious that she recognizes her own voice," said Sissel and lights up not just a little bit herself, which you can read more about in a longer interview which will appear in tomorrow's BA.

There she speaks about bother her career and family life, and the friends she still has in Bergen, about her trashed USA recording and the plans for the future.

If you think "Sara's Song" is Sissel's song to her daughter, that's not quite right. The song is actually the opposite, written as a daughter's song to her mother--or it can be interpreted as a song to all mothers.

"But it's appropriate for mother's to sing it also, if they dare. The melody goes a little high towards the end," said Sissel smiling. And to take the high notes like Sissel is, of course, something only few can dream about.
