The Truth of God: a gay Mormon chronicle
Participants include a well-known, excommunicated Church historian, an author and former LDS bishop at a book signing during gay Pride week, an artist who had to fight to be excommunicated after his lover committed suicide, actively gay and celibate gay LDS members, and footage shot at groups like gayRMs (gay returned missionaries), Gay LDS Young Adults, FHE Family (a gay Mormon "family home evening" group) and Affirmation (a support organizatiton for gay and lesbian Mormons).
Fascinating beliefs, practices and opinions abound, such as the conviction that a revelation will instruct Church leaders to sanction a form of gay marriage, similar to how a revelation extended the Mormon priesthood to Blacks and ended Mormon polygamy on Earth. (It continues in the hereafter).
The title, The Truth of God, comes from an oft repeated quote of LDS Church Founder and Prophet Joseph Smith: "The truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent ... till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done."
